Ramblings

in a trick of acrobatics, the ruffles of my lace shirt danced all night. it was a cerulean blue or a sea moss green. a toreador style outfit hugging the skin. a leather jacket layered on top, this item would be lost in the mayhem of the night and morning. it was the friday eve, an unexpected outing. a last-minute decision predicated upon a wish to dance, to rally, to say boo and to cheer at the different parts of the story. amidst the crowd of cats, characters, doctors, cowboys, rabbis, winged creatures and unrecognizable forms, the music, like morning dew, drenched the air with sound. the feet beneath me took me to different parts of the wooden floor, energized by other bodies moving. at times, a slow sway kept rhythms locked in the hips, a safe distance from the front and from the center. as the moonlight matured, a pull drew me closer inward, a need to be closer. the sway became a swing, hands reaching upwards, waiting for reciprocity. the feet, dressed in fancier shoes, took wild jumps and leaps. a sort of two-step with the clank of sole against the grain. from the sky, superman first made an appearance, clothes tight against the skin (too). this was their first appearance, foreshadowing their ability to maneuver in the air, a rain twirling upwards. a second appearance made it clear, i was mesmerized. a gift of flight made beautiful, suspension through grace. one moment the gaze looked back, a tease and a toss of clothing landed ever so softly around my shoulders. imagine a ancient calf bearer image from egypt (or maybe that was wishful thinking). the acrobatic became more than just a visual trick. the suspension became a moon in the skyless, yet vast space. a glow of performance lingered through the early morning hours. it carried me across the last steps of the dance, to the ride home, and finally to the moon i saw, it was full.
in essence, as the sky turned purple or the color of the moon a breach of air, like dew music came down, as rain danced upward in recognition, the night ended, a mention of leather wrapping the arm, and a leather jacket, disappeared.

in the wake of a new move in, space must be made. a need of space. for all to use and share. it was important to maximize, or optimize, the kitchen. to make room for what’s to come. a peg board was needed to make the kitchen ever so artisanal. a way to collapse the space in the cabinets to take items out, without loosing their utility. no lost items or space here. the first step is to find the stud (hey!) and have it be the weight bearing for the whole thing. it is an essential part of this. tools also essential. a drill to pre-drill the screw holes. ensuring they entered smoothly. hand protection recommended for the metal edges of the pegboard. the stud finder works through a magnet since there is metal in the wooden studs, a way to discover what is behind the wall. how do we improve the home? to make it welcome old and new friends? to keep it warm and inviting. home improvement is domestic bliss.
